Thermal Academy Where every kcal counts

About the Academy

Why an engineering company runs a free classroom.

i-Kcal Systems Engineering LLP designs and builds industrial process-heat and energy-recovery systems — steam, hot water and thermic fluid: generation, distribution, heat transfer, controls, and the recovery technologies that pull wasted heat back into the process. That daily practice is where these lessons come from: every rule of thumb here has been argued about on a plant floor first.

We teach it in the open for a simple reason: most of the energy wasted in Indian plants is lost to fundamentals, not to missing technology. A trap selected by habit, a main drained in the wrong place, condensate sent to drain, a boiler run on yesterday's excess air — none of these need capital to fix. They need someone on site who understands the physics. The more such people exist, the better every plant runs — and the better the conversations we get to have.

How the academy teaches. Seven faculties run from steam basics to a troubleshooting clinic, and every lesson works the same way: the concept, then the numbers, then what to check at site. One fictional plant — a 6 TPH husk-fired boiler feeding a food-processing works — carries the worked examples from first lesson to last, so the arithmetic compounds instead of restarting. Units are the ones Indian plants actually speak (kg/cm²g and kcal first, SI alongside), claims come as honest bands with their basis stated, and each lesson ends with a self-check quiz that keeps score for you alone. Working calculators, original schematics, a glossary, a notation key and a printable formula crib sheet round out the classroom. Finish every lesson of a faculty and you can claim a completion certificate — no account needed.

The academy is free and stays free. Lessons are vendor-neutral; where an i-Kcal technology is the honest answer to a problem, it is linked once and marked clearly. Worked figures use public fuel and utility rates and are teaching values — verify with certified data and site measurement before you design.
